ok as many of u no there are like 3 divisions incollegebasketball , according to how good they are. SO my basketball team is a division two high school team, and many of our coaches say that we have enough talent and good players to take on any school in the state or country for that matter. So he arranged a good division 3 school and prolly the best division one school any where in the country (a chicago team) we beat both teams by a good margin. But my question is why if these two teams were far better than us y did we beat them if they were so good. I related thecollegedivisions to high school basketball. WHen i did this i figured we would smoke the division 3 school but then we beat the d 1 school. Is high school basketball the same strength level ascollegebrackets or is it just by the number of recruitants in a high school that make the level play out?

in highschool the schools are classified by how many students attend so that's the pool that each team can be filled by. Smaller schools have less people who can potentially be good but that doesn't stop their top 10 players out of 100 being better then the top 10 out of a school of say 1000. It's not based on talent level but class size.

College takes division one and can recruit players where the best players all go to division one if they can. The lower divisions are smaller in size usually as well but also in talent level because if you are a big time talent you aren't going to have a division 2 or 3 school as your first choice usually.

Take this into consideration...high schoolers have to stay all four years. College players especially basketball dont stay all four years and are already heading to the NBA. SocollegeBB is very young. Butcollegeteams are still better than high school even at the D3collegelevel. I mean I suppose high schoolers could if they had a really good AAU team. But divisions in high school are really close. basically divisions are made based on population but many D1 teams lose to D2 schools in high school. IncollegeD1 team would dominate D2 teams so they are different in that regard.
I think one thing to keep in mind with high school basketball is that great teams gain exposure whether they are small or big. Here in New Jersey, the high school scene the last ten years has been dominated by two lower level Catholic high schools- those who follow the high school game know who they are- primarily because the people in the know realize there is tradition and great players. Coaching means so much more as well in high school than in college.
